Gain Altitude: Bring Light to Dark Corners
It is our connection to light that is our vehicle through life, not our actions.
When we were 10, we didn’t keep trying to be perfect according to someone else, we didn’t look or want approval inside ourselves, WE KNEW and TRUSTED our own inner light. Each time we second guess ourselves we lose energy, compromise our immune system. So, how do we go back to the place we knew? We practice letting our light shine; not shrinking, and thus others can become liberated to do the same.
I believe that our natural state of being is one of Joy, and that on most days we can experience glimpses of this---IF we are in the Present Moment. When people ask me about HOW TO be-in-the-moment my response is to notice as you move through you day for:
What worked out easier for you, better than you thought it could?
What did you appreciate, welcome…embrace differently?
Did you know that the vibration of appreciation is equal to that of love? When we appreciate those, often smaller things--- we tend to feel happy, joy, glimpses of bliss.
Why is it so elusive for so many?
IMAGINE that joy is like a beautiful sunny day filled with bright light, pleasant blue skies with white feathery clouds. THEN imagine a day filled with anxiety, worry, frustration, anger, fatigue, hopelessness ---dark and grey. Even on these stormy days, is the sun not shining? Many of us can recall being on an airplane, gaining altitude, breaking through turbulent gloomy clouds, into the bright sunshine.
Life is a matter of PERSPECTIVE. Our perspective, or our belief – (a belief is only what we keep thinking about ), we can decide to change. Our thoughts about a situation, person or event is the only thing we have CONTROL of. At times we must make changes and re-chart our course, take ACTION to move beyond the ‘clouds’ in our life. We need re-fueling to have the energy necessary to change course and gain Altitude!
When our perspective is cloudy we can look at our attitude, and notice if it is more ( + ) ( -).
Adjust accordingly. Re-chart our course refuel and take action:
Affirmations: to make room for new possibilities
Refuel with more Me Time: slow down, indulge in pleasure and play
Cope with Stress: learn inner-world coping strategies
This all IS a PRACTICE, and thus we must practicepracticepractice.
And continue practicing more.
Food is fuel for our body, ‘practices’ are fuel for our mind, feelings and inner being---those chattering monkeys whispering in our ear; often nagging causing us to have doubts, second guessing ourselves and ultimately having no clarity – only chaos. Developing and maintaining a daily ‘practice’ aligns emotions with our way (habits) of thinking, and these improved patterns create harmony and balance within our inner-being, soul, spirit ~
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate, Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. Marianne Williamson
Daily practices teach us and train our minds to develop a more light-filled thought system, a more loving, versus fearful, thought system.
We each have areas in our lives that are working well, where our light does shine outward. Then there are those shadow aspects we hold onto in the dark corners. But, we CAN grow and brighten our dimming embers, and bring light to some of those darker corners. These areas are wounds that exert control over us by diminishing our energy, like barnacles or zebra muscles on a ship…places, objects, people, memories and unfinished business that binds us onto the dead zone of our past.
How can you grow your embers?
Who is a ‘bellow’ for you?
What practice can you embrace?
Many talk about INTENTION, however intention alone can become a watered-down occasional hope that you’ll get to tomorrow. Intention without discipline is useless. (*discipline: to train or develop by instruction). We must learn to love the discipline of going within, glowing within and what it requires of us to do in order to grow our embers and Be who we are meant to be.
It is in rebuilding our bridge within to let our light shine.
