Autumn Glory

Greetings to All!

I am so excited to welcome you all to the official launch of my website, Instagram and FB.


Autumn is upon us.  September 22nd is the Autumn Equinox – a time of balance:  12 hours of equal light and darkness. An ideal time to consider how this shows up in your life.

So what is our problem when more often than not, we get up and just seem to hover over the surface of our days, and barely dwell in them at all?  There are some that believe it is just an ordinary day or normal. After this past 18 months, going on two years – there is NOT ordinary or normal on any horizon around the globe.

 As multitasking had become the accepted method of day-to-day living experience,  it has now taken on an entirely new level filled with anxiety,  and most are substantially preoccupied with new obstacles in how to take care of life’s day to day challenges.  And so on and on and we float along the surface of our day with increasing stress.   Is it any wonder that more than sometimes, something important winds up falling through the crevices and we react as if in shock, in denial that we did take care of it?  That's the difference between taking care of things in our heads, actually pre-occupied with what WAS the normal...the ordinary chaos of daily life AND where all the while we are moaning and groaning and whining because we haven't yet made the choice of: time for OURSELVES. 

Let us breathe here.  Inhale.  Exhale. Take a moment to be still. Now.  DO it 11 times.

Let us make the time to renew and rediscover a shift in our perspective to become aware of the treasures and blessings that are meant to savor and experience --- to notice and ask ourselves:

Ø  What do I need right now?

Ø  What nourishes, uplifts and inspires me? 

Ø  What is the movement in my life ---is there any?

Ø  What am I feeling…really feeling?

Ø  Is it time to re-prioritize some things and focus on me?   

 

  

Begin to transform your breathing

Ø  Start with your exhalation, with “letting go”.

Ø  A long, slow exhalation helps harmonize your diaphragm and turns on your ‘relaxation response’.

Ø  Sense the natural pause after exhalation; let yourself rest there for a moment.

Ø  Let your inhalation arise by itself when it’s ready.

Ø  Sense the various breathing spaces of your body several times a day.  Smile into these spaces and observe how your awareness helps them open and close effortlessly.

Remember you are a breathing being, alive right now, right here.

Men, woman, teens and children:  Nearly 20 months of trying to cope with change, loss and grief -- angst on every level.   And we thought there was stress in our lives BEFORE???

How much longer will the defending and justifying “but I just can’t fit another thing into my day”  or  “where do I begin” ??? The TRUTH is: We can’t afford not to.

Try these for starters:

·       BREATHE: Every time sitting at your desk, car, meeting or class keep one hand placed on your low belly and NOTICE if you are breathing shallow or holding your breath. BREATHE full.  BREATHE deep. BREATHE slow.

·       MEDITATE every MORNING. This sets the tone for your day. You will become more clear, focused and calm. Start with 2 minutes and grow it to 5 minutes, then 10 minutes.

·       APPRECIATION:  Every evening write down 3 things you are grateful for from your day.  Often the littlest, simplest things bring you into the present-moment with mindfulness.

Share these ‘practices’ with your children, family and friends.  Share everything!

Get a colorful ‘pinwheel’ and make it spin~!

September will focus on creating balance in our daily life ~ TO breathe in daily calm.
